Founded by Alison Dell and Irina Ellison in 2015, Art in the Lab promotes crosstalk between art and science through free public workshops where participants engage in authentic laboratory experiences and create art inspired by interaction with scientific collections.

Biologists by training, Dell and Ellison hold faculty positions at St. Francis College and Mercy College.  The academic labs of both institutions house robust collections of teaching slides and models.  In being able to access these collections and make them accessible - we are delighted and grateful for the support each college has shown to the project.  

Curiosity, inclusiveness and fun are cornerstones that support the atmosphere of the events. We invite everyone to engage with and re-claim science through art.  Events are always free and open to scientists, artists, and the sci/art curious.  Drawing is fun and science is for everyone.
